For tourists
Are you staying as a tourist on Texel or in the Den Helder, Hollands Kroon or Schagen region and do you need care in the evening, at night or at the weekend that cannot wait until the next working day? Then you can go to one of our GP emergency stations.
Care in the evening, at night and on weekends
Outside office hours and on weekends, tourists, just like residents of the region, can call on the GP Emergency Station in case of emergency.
The GP Emergency Station is only for care that cannot wait until the next working day. You must first call the GP Emergency Station in advance:
- Emergency Square Den Helder: 0223 670 470
- GP Emergency Station Schagen: 0224 224 040
- GP Emergency Station Texel: 0222 321 143
Cost
If you have Dutch insurance, the costs will be claimed directly from the health insurance. Tourists who are insured abroad must pay for the consultation (directly) themselves. You can claim the costs yourself from your own insurance.
Care for tourists during the day
For tourists on Texel, there is a special tourist number that they can call if they need care during the day (0222 338 900). You can call this number from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 17:00 and will then be referred to the practice on duty.
Do you need care on working days, from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 17:00? Then you can go to any GP in the Den Helder, Hollands Kroon or Schagen region. You must first call the (nearest) practice in advance.
All general practitioners in the region can be found at: https://www.hknhuisartsen.nl/aangesloten-huisartsen/
Other information
For any question about illness and health, please consult Thuisarts.nl first. For example, because something is bothering you or because you are worried about something. Or because you want to know what you can do yourself. You can also use Thuisarts.nl to prepare for a doctor’s visit.
If you are in doubt about a visit to the GP and/or GP Medical Post, you can always use the digital form ‘Do I have to go to the doctor?’ (MINDD), which can be found on our website, among other things. This is a self-triage instrument with which you can assess whether and when it is necessary to contact the GP and/or the GP Medical Station.
